What is dermal filler?

Dermal filler is a substance that is injected into the dermis of the skin in order to fill or plump the area. Fillers are used to treat wrinkles, creases and restore volume to the face or body. Although there are many different types of fillers, the most popular are hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. HA is a substance that already exists in the skin; one of its’ main functions is to hydrate and plump the skin.

Treatable Areas:

Nasolabial Folds ( nose to mouth )

The nasolabial fold is the crease that starts from the corner of the nose and runs diagonally down the the corner of the mouth. With age, the fold becomes deeper and forms a shadow that can make the face look tired. Nasolabial folds can be treated using dermal filler 

Marionette Lines  (mouth to chin ) 

Marionette lines are the shadows that start from the corner of the mouth and run down towards the jawline, either side of the chin. They look like the lines on marionette dolls and hence are often described as marionette lines. Loss of skin collagen and loss of mid-face volume causes the skin on the face to descend down towards the jaw. This results in the formation of jowls and marionette lines.

This can be corrected through injections of dermal filler into the surrounding area, restoring the lost volume and softening the appearance of these creases. 

Procedure & Recovery:

Numbing cream is applied to the area 

Treatment  time is 30-45 minutes 

Some redness, swelling & bruising is expected after the treatment 

1-2 sessions maybe needed depending on each person
